Rachel Dein makes plaster casts of plants and flowers that record all their texture, pattern, and delicacy in exquisite details. Her compositions can be as simple as a single stem or as complex as a field of wild-flowers, leaves, and grasses. Whether in small tiles with a single flower portrait or large panels that suggest an entire garden full of blooms, Rachel’s botanical castings reflect her desire to capture the ephemeral. They track the progress of the seasons, marking the plants at the moment when they are most alive.
This will be Rachel’s fourth year participating in RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Chelsea is the world’s most prestigious flower show that inspires millions through showcasing the best in garden design. As well as having a stand (EA414) selling her work, she has created a unique collection for the Jardin Blanc restaurant at Chelsea. All the pieces in this collection are cast using the plants and vegetables grown at Le Manoir for the restaurant. Please have a look at the Jardin Blanc gallery page.
